Home Area: Nashville, TN Travels to: Anywhere Biography: Julianna Waller is a violinist, fiddler, composer, and published author (Mel Bay). She received her Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Therapy from Arizona State University. Born in Alaska, Julianna grew up in the beautiful desert state of Arizona. By age sixteen she had become a nationally honored fiddle champion recognized at the Fiddler’s Hall of Fame. She was featured in the winter 2001/2002 issue of Fiddler Magazine, and her book, Past the Print: Discovering Creative Improvisation for String Players, has received rave reviews by numerous musicians and such magazines as Bluegrass Unlimited. Julianna has appeared on many recordings including Clint Black’s album, Nothin’ but the Taillights. Her own releases include Daybreak, a collection of Southwestern music and Energy Rising, contemporary instrumental music featuring the violin. Julianna has toured with such artists as Brenda Lee, Sara Evans, Lee Ann Womack, and Matt King. She has also toured with the Nashville Mandolin Ensemble and the Broadway show Civil War. As a testament to her versatility, she has performed on the stages of both Carnegie Hall and the Grand Ole Opry within the same year. Julianna has served as instructor of violin at Western Kentucky University as well as concertmaster of the Bowling Green-Western Symphony Orchestra. Currently, Julianna is principal second violin of the Bowling Green Chamber Orchestra and plays regularly with the Nashville Symphony. She also teaches at the Bowling Green String Academy, presents workshops, and continues to compose and record for Energy Rising. |
